Alexandra Ruby Hengyue was born on August 31, 2005. She has lived in the LongGang District Social Welfare Institute since birth and has been in a foster home since March of 2009. Her orphanage is in Southern China very close to Hong Kong. All the information we have on this orphanage is that the nannies love the children and that the kids have been well taken care of. This provides us a lot of comfort as we wait to bring her home.
As we mentioned she was born with a cleft lip that was repaired in China when she was a year old. She will likely have more surgeries in her future but this is something we feel we can handle and are fortunate to have a great Chidren's Hospital right here in our city. Alex is developmentally on track and appears to be healthy!
Alex is said to be a quiet child. This is music to my ears as I currently have 2 very loud children! Bringing Alex into our home will definitely be an experiment in Nature vs. Nurture. I’m thinking there is a good chance that she is likely to develop her own loud voice to compete with her brother and sister. We shall see, but my fingers are crossed that at least one of my children will be the quiet type….I know, not likely but I’ll keep you posted!
